She just can’t shake her feelings for old flame Deacon Claybourne, but he may not be around much longer. After passing out in his hotel room, Deacon was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver from his years of drinking. The doctors also suspect Deacon has cancer.
While Luke and Rayna didn’t get married, Avery Barkley and Juliette Barnes did tie the knot. He proposed to her after weeks of trying to be friends as they prepare for the birth of their child.
Gunnar Scott prepared to go to court with his son Micah‘s grandparents for custody. As part of the process, Gunnar and Micah had DNA tests, which showed that Micah was actually fathered by Gunnar’s late brother, Jason. It turns out Gunnar ex-girlfriend, Kylie, cheated on Gunnar with his brother 10 years ago.
Will Lexington wanted his record label president, Jeff Fordham, to stop sleeping with Will’s wife, rising star Layla Grant, so Layla could go on the road with him. Rumors about Will’s homosexuality started circulating online, so he needed Layla with him to keep up the façade of their sham marriage. While attending a party at Jeff’s house, Will slept with a female country music reporter to disprove the gay rumors. Layla walked in on them having sex and downed a lot of pills and alcohol to deal with that betrayal on top of the rejection from Jeff. At the end of the episode, Layla was floating face down in Jeff’s pool. Jeff called Mayor Teddy Conrad to help him cover up the scandal of having a starlet die at his party.
There was some music in the midst of all the madness on Nashville this week. Lennon & Maisy, who play Rayna’s daughters Daphne and Maddie, performed a song called “We Got Love” at Luke and Rayna’s rehearsal dinner.
“Maddie and Deacon wrote the song for the wedding and for her mom, I guess, as the gift,” Lennon tells ABC News Radio, “It’s a great song. We love singing it. Loved recording it.”
Her sister Maisy adds, “It’s such a sweet little message. I love it. Yeah.”
“We Got Love” is just one example of the songs written especially for Nashville to fit certain scenes in the show.
Says Maisy, “It’s unbelievable how they do it.”
“We Got Love” is now available on iTunes. Nashville will return with all new episodes in the new year.
