CMTOn Thursday night’s new episode of Nashville on CMT, the romance between Deacon Claybourne and Jessie Caine deepens, with both parents juggling their kids’ schedules so they can spend the night together.

When the pieces finally fall in place, the memory of Rayna Jaymes keeps Deacon from consummating his relationship with Jessie. Ultimately, he realizes he’s feeling something significant for her, and implores Jessie not to give up on him.

Meanwhile, Maddie Jaymes is again caught up in a tabloid nightmare, as Jonah Ford’s ex strikes out at her on the internet. When Jonah comes to visit Maddie, the paparazzi follows, which only makes things worse. In the end, he impresses Maddie by being vulnerable, and stepping up to take her to the release party for his new EP.

Gunnar Scott, Will Lexington and Avery Barkley continue to pursue a career as a group, though they decide to add a female voice to the band. When they discover the talented singer Alannah, she also seems to spark Gunnar’s interests romantically.

Back at home, Avery and Juliette Barnes continue to butt heads in the aftermath of her revelation she’d been molested as a child. When self-help guru Darius Enright convinces Juliette that working at a mission in Bolivia is the path to healing, Avery’s opposition is at an all-time high. Though the couple seems to have made peace, by the episode’s end, it’s unclear exactly what decision Juliette has made.
