ABC/Image Group LAReba McEntire will go back to her beginnings on Thursday, as she sings “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

The Oklahoma native grew up on a ranch led by her father, who was a champion steer roper.  Reba even competed as a barrel racer, though she’s often joked she wasn’t a very good one.

It was Reba’s rendition of the national anthem at the 1974 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City that set the wheels in motion for the Country Music Hall-of-Famer to land her first recording contract.

You can watch for Reba’s performance starting at 10 p.m. ET Thursday on CBS Sports Network, with a rebroadcast set for 1 a.m. ET.
