ABC/Image Group LAWhile many of us will be watching the ball drop in Times Square to ring in 2016, Ronnie Dunn admits he has something more explosive in mind. Several years ago, he developed a new tradition that puts December 25 firmly in the past, while ringing in the New Year with a bang.

“We take our Christmas tree down to the bonfire pit and we tie these mortar fireworks things to the limbs, and light it up, and everybody runs,” he says. “And ya know, it blows up and explodes and catches on fire. Pretty funny stuff!”

Next May, the combustible combination of Brooks & Dunn and Reba reunite for another round of shows on their Together in Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Meanwhile, Ronnie continues to work on his debut album for Nash Icon Records, with Rascal FlattsJay DeMarcus in the producer’s chair. The record will feature his current single, “Ain’t No Trucks in Texas.”
