ABC/Image Group LAThe honors just keep piling up for Sam Hunt. After his 2015 win for Best New Artist at the American Music Awards, he’s up for the comparable trophy at the Grammy next month. Then in the spring, the Music Business Association will give the Montevallo hitmaker its Breakthrough Artist Award.

“Ever since I packed up and moved to Nashville, I’ve been blessed to be accepted into the country music community, work with some of my idols and find success with my own voice,” the “Break Up in a Small Town” singer says. “I am so thankful to Music Biz for the recognition. I guess the award is proof that I’m on the right track, and I’m excited to keep pushing forward,” he adds.

The association that promotes music commerce will give Sam the honor during a lunch May 18 at its annual convention at the Renaissance Nashville hotel. In the past, his Best New Artist Grammy competitor Meghan Trainor has received the award, as have Nicki Minaj, John Legend and Carrie Underwood. Music Biz also will honor alternative singer/songwriter Halsey at the luncheon.
