Triple Tigers RecordsWhen American Idol premieres Sunday on ABC, you can bet season 10 winner Scotty McCreerywill be watching.

“I’ve always been a fan of the show,” he tells ABC Radio, “and every year, I can’t wait to see the new talent. So, should be a fun season.”

Just like lots of viewers, Scotty admits the start of the season is his favorite part.

“I love the audition process…” he says. “You know, seeing new talent, seeing the funny auditions… I get a good kick out of that. But it’s fun kind of picking your guy, you know, who’s gonna win… and seeing how far they go.”

In fact, it won’t be too long until we see the North Carolina native return to the show that made him famous.

“We’ve already gone up to L.A. and shot a mentor session with a contestant and met a couple others,” Scotty reveals. “So, yeah, we’ve already helped out a little bit where we can.”

“And I’ll help out however I can, just because I’ve definitely got a little more expertise into the behind-the-scenes stuff for Idol than most folks,” he adds. “So, I’ve got a couple tricks up my sleeve for how to get by.”

Scotty has no doubt Luke Bryan will get by just fine, as he represents country music behind the judges’ table.

“I’m excited for him. I think he’ll be great for Idol,” he says. “I think he’ll have great advice… I mean, he’s selling out stadiums around the world, so if anybody’s gonna help you out with stage presence, or help you out with song selection, you know, Luke’s gonna be a good guy for that.”

American Idol premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Scotty’s new album, Seasons Change, follows next Friday.
