WICHITA, KS – Suzuki of Wichita is set to become Subaru of Wichita. In the changing of brands, their ownership group decided to do some renovations to their existing building – to the tune of $1.5 Million.

Subaru of Wichita hired a local general contractor, Key Construction, to oversee the renovations. Key Construction, in-turn, hired Hi-Tech interiors, from right here in Manhattan, to do the drywall and interior finish.

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America Local 201 is a St. Louis based worker’s union with a chapter in Wichita. They didn’t win the contract, so they decided to post a large white banner, manned by several people in front of the dealership, that reads “Shame on Subaru of Wichita.” …The dealership responded with a banner of its own that reads “For Having Unbeatable Prices.”

The UBCJA claims that the local non-union employers pay their employees substandard wages. According to both Key Construction, and Hi-Tech Interiors, this an unsubstantiated claim.
