BMLGAs Brantley Gilbert heads out on The Devil Don’t Sleep Tour tonight, the “Weekend” hitmaker admits he’s just getting to know his two opening acts.

While he may just be getting acquainted with newcomer Tucker Beathard, Brantley knows his father, hit songwriter Casey Beathard, pretty well.

“I’ve written songs with his dad for a while,” Brantley says, “so if he’s anything close to a chip off the old block, we’re gonna have a ball. You know, as a writer and as a person, I look up to his dad a lot.”

Thanks to a song on Tucker’s Fight Like Hell EP, he’s already impressed his new boss.

“My little brother sent me a song of Tucker’s, before I even heard it,” Brantley recalls. “It’s called ‘I’ll Take on the World with You.’ And that’s me and my little brother to a T. When he’s already writing songs that I can relate to and I’m digging, that just makes it that [much] more exciting,” he adds.

Brantley fears his other tourmate, Luke Combs, may have a thing or two to learn about his competitive nature.

“He’s a funny guy. He’s already challenged me to a game of Madden…” Brantley says. “What he don’t know is I cheat. I have to put my team on rookie difficulty and I make everybody else play on like all-Madden, so I can win… I’m a sore loser!” he laughs.

Luke’s debut single, “Hurricane,” is climbing the charts now.

Tonight, Luke, Tucker and Brantley kick off their 2017 dates at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania.
