Warner Music NashvilleCole Swindell is getting ready for a once-in-a-lifetime experience Tuesday morning. He’ll perform his massive hit, “You Should Be Here,” as part of the first-ever live concert from the World Trade Center terrace overlooking the Freedom Tower in New York City.
“This is probably the most special performance of my career. I’m not sure I deserve to be the one doing this,” the Georgia native says humbly, “but it’s such an amazing feeling that I have a song that I wrote about personal experience… to see this country and the fans relate to it the way that they do.”
Originally written about the passing of his father, Cole admits “You Should Be Here” takes on an even greater significance when he thinks about delivering it at the site where so many lives were lost on September 11, 2001.
“I think we’ve all got somebody we’re missing or that we’ve lost that could be making every moment we get to spend a little bit better. You know, I’m excited to meet some folks and just be in such a special place singing my favorite song I’ve ever written.”
