Zach and Colton Swon started blending their voices together as kids singing a medley of Everly Brothers songs, including “Bye Bye Love” and “All I Have to Do Is Dream,” with their family’s band. Those duet performances earned them a spot on NBC’s The Voice, which led them to sign a major label record deal in Nashville. While recording the album, the brothers made sure the songs allowed them to sing together as much as possible.

Colton tells ABC News Radio, “So, when we were writing, we tried to write melodies that fit that harmony. When we were looking for songs, we were looking for those that just complimented what we do.”

The guys worked with Carrie Underwood‘s long-time producer, Mark Bright, on the album, and he was highly impressed with The Swon Brothers’ clear vision for their debut album.

Says Colton, “We didn’t know what songs, exactly, but we knew the sound that we wanted to create, and it made for a pretty fun project, you know.”

The Swon Brothers even recruited fellow Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood to turn their act into a trio on the album-closing song, “This Side of Heaven.”

“To have her step out and just sing on our first record, it’s very humbling and just unbelievable,” Colton says. “You’re looking at two very grateful brothers, ’cause she doesn’t have to do that. She’s a superstar. Everything she touches is golden.”

The Swon Brothers’ debut album also includes their hit single, “Later On.”
