Courtesy of BMLG RecordsFriday night in Austin, Texas, Florida Georgia Line’s Dig Your Roots Tour officially morphs into the Smooth trek. Joining the duo for their summer dates are Chris Lane, rapper Nelly and sometimes the Backstreet Boys.

Of course, Nelly and FGL have already had a major crossover hit together, with their breakthrough smash “Cruise.”

“These guys, the reason that I love them is, yeah, they’re country artists, but their respect for all music is so on a higher level…” Nelly says. “They grew up listening to everything. It’s just they’re country artists, if you gotta put a gender on it. You know what I’m sayin’ like? But these boys dope, man!” he adds.

Brian Kelley admits he’s hoping to soak up some of Nelly’s style while they’re on the road the next few months.

“I’m personally excited about taking Nelly vintage shopping and showing him how BK gets down!” Brian says, as Nelly laughs. “And then he’s gonna take me shoe and jewelry shopping and we’re gonna have ourselves a day!”

Saturday, the Smooth Tour rolls into Dallas, Texas. The Backstreet Boys, who currently have a hit with FGL on “God, Your Mama and Me,” will join the trek’s stadium dates in Boston, Minneapolis and Chicago.
