Charles Curtis, from the Great State of Kansas, began serving in the United States Senate. He was the first American Indian to become a U.S.Senator

He resigned in March of 1929 to become U.S. President Herbert Hoover’s Vice President. 

1960

Bathysphere Trieste, crewed by Jacques Piccard and US Navy Lieutenant Don Walsh, reaches bottom of Pacific!

 

 

Trieste descended to a record depth of 35,820 feet in the Pacific Ocean. 

1971

Prospect Creek Camp, Alaska set the United States’ record for the coldest temperature ever recorded!

 

 It’s actual temp was… -80°F!! 

1973

U.S. President Nixon announced that an accord had been reached to end the Vietnam War.

 

This accord was called the Paris Peace Accord 

1985

O.J. Simpson became the first Heisman Trophy winner to be elected to pro football’s Hall of Fame in Canton, OH.

 

 

Was he also the first pro football hall of famer to get away with murder?!

First induction of Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame inductees were inducted!

 

Chuck Berry, James Brown, Ray Charles, Fats Domino, The Everly Bros, B Holly, J L Lewis…
