ABC/Image Group LA In Thomas Rhett’s latest top-ten hit, “Marry Me,” he let himself imagine what life might’ve been like if he’d never had the courage to pursue a romantic relationship with his wife Lauren.

Of course, in real life, the couple has been married since 2012, and just last year adopted daughter Willa from a Ugandan orphanage, shortly before the birth of their first biological child, a little girl named Ada.

Thomas admits that’s led to a whole new set of skills.

“I’m a very good diaper-changer,” he tells ABC Radio. “I don’t do well in crisis situations. Like, if [Willa] has serious, like, you know, issues during church or something, I’m not good at dealing with going into the bathroom and making sure everything’s taken care of. I can do it at my house, but Lauren takes care of most of that when we’re out.”

While Thomas’s girls no doubt love their daddy, he admits he has to take a backseat to his father, singer/songwriter Rhett Akins.

“He’s amazing!” Thomas Rhett says. “Like, he’s Willa’s favorite person to be around. I think it’s because he still kinda acts like a kid. He’s just so good with her and he lives right down the street, so he’s become the best free babysitter that we have.”

This weekend, TR competes for the Best Country Album Grammy for Life Changes at the 60th annual ceremony in New York City.
