ABC/Image Group LANot only did Thomas Rhett‘s wife Lauren inspire his monster hit, “Die a Happy Man,” Thomas says she’s also his number-one indicator of what fans will think of his new music.

“She is the ultimate gauge. If she doesn’t like a song, it more than likely means, you know that 70 percent of the female population are not going to like a song, which is a big percentage,” he says.

“I’m always playing her songs, and Lauren is a person that when she listens to a song, she’s strictly listening for feeling,” he adds. “Not that she doesn’t care about lyrics, but if you can get her to love a song within fifteen seconds of the song starting, then she’s on board with it.”

TR says Lauren has proclaimed his latest single her “summer jam.”

“‘Vacation’ was one of those songs for her. Never in a million years did I think we’d be able to put this song out as a single. But it’s peak of summer and I feel like this is one of those songs that’s gonna get people amped up for the summertime and the boat and the lake and the ocean,” he says. “So, we’re pumped about it.”

When Lauren’s not listening to her hit-making husband, you might find her checking out some Justin Bieber. Last week, she and TR checked out the Biebs as he played Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
