Image Courtesy Big Machine RecordsTim McGraw has plenty of CMA Awards in his trophy case, and he could add some more hardware at Wednesday night’s ceremony. Tim’s collaboration with wife Faith Hill on “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” is up for CMA Musical Event of the Year. The recognition is sweet for Tim, who is now in his 20th year of country superstardom.

“Well, nominations, you never take those for granted, I think, ’cause when you’ve been around as long as I have, everybody just assumes you’re there,” Tim explains. “Everybody can assume you’re gonna be at the awards show and can assume you’re gonna be nominated and therefore they don’t vote for you, ’cause they automatically assume that you’ll be nominated anyway.”

Tim adds that he’s grateful to be included in the CMA Awards nominations since he’s seen so many artists come and go in the past two decades. Still, the accolades don’t drive him to keep recording and touring.

Tim adds, “At the end of the day, you just want to make good music.”

Look for Tim to perform on the 48th Annual CMA Awards Wednesday night at 8 ET on ABC.
