Trisha and her husband, Garth Brooks, have been juggling their busy schedules, plus his three daughters’ school and extracurricular activities, for years now. The youngest is the only one left at home, but Trisha knows exactly how to get the two older college girls home to the dinner table.

Trisha tells Woman’s Day, “They live nearby, and if I send out a text that says, ‘Hey, it’s veggie night,’ they’ll show up. They know it means I’m roasting all their favorite vegetables and probably serving a meat loaf, too.”

Another family favorite is Trisha’s signature chili recipe, which she created as an effort to replace Garth’s mother’s chili recipe.  “I didn’t want to get it wrong,” Trisha says. “So, I decided to make a completely new recipe rather than mess with her classic.”

As for the recipe, Trisha says, “I put in black beans, plus a can of refried beans, which makes it thick the way he likes it, but doesn’t require a lot of simmering to get that consistency.”

Trisha’s issue of Woman’s Day is on stands Tuesday, August 12.
