Sony Music NashvilleLife is going very well for Tyler Farr these days. He  had a party at Nashville bar Winner’s Monday afternoon to celebrate his latest #1 hit, “A Guy Walks into a Bar.” The venue was appropriate since it’s the spot he first heard songwriter Jonathan Singleton perform the song during a writers round.

Blake Shelton was also in the running to record the song, but Tyler got lucky and beat him to the punch. While Blake was sad to miss out on the song, he is a big fan of Tyler’s version. Tyler played the song before it was released for Blake backstage at a Miranda Lambert concert.

Tyler says, “We were sitting in Miranda’s Airstream. I remember playing it for him the first time, a cut of it. He said, ‘Well done, sir. Well done.’ After he said words that I can’t say on these microphones.”

Blake’s approval was important for Tyler. He adds, “That was a cool feeling having him condone that and being like, ‘Man, you did well. Good job.'”

Things are great in Tyler’s personal life as well. He’s currently helping plan an October wedding to his fiancée, Hannah Freeman. Tyler admits he’s leaving most of the decisions to Hannah, though.

“Once you get engaged, the plans of the wedding is all they seem to want to talk about,” Tyler says of planning the wedding with Hannah. “Where, when, how, why. It overtakes their minds, and I understand why. Guys don’t necessarily need to go and visit the venue to see it. They can see pictures and be like, ‘Oh, that looks like a cool place. Let’s do it!'”

In all seriousness, Tyler says he’s very lucky Hannah said yes to his proposal. He adds, “Yeah, I have a beautiful fiancée. She’s awesome. There’s a reason I got engaged to a critical care nurse. Yeah, welcome to country music.”

The couple is planning a small wedding in Tennessee. They’ve been dating for almost three years.
