A soldier who was badly wounded in Afghanistan has proposed to his girlfriend in Maine while two former presidents looked on.George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and their first ladies watched as retired Army Spc. Tyler Jeffries proposed to Lauren Lilly . Jeffries is one of ten veterans featured in the book “Unbreakable Bonds: The Mighty Moms and Wounded Warriors of Walter Reed”. On Monday, the veterans featured in the book had been invited to the Bush home which is why he was there in the first place.

Jeffries, who is from Florida, lost his legs – one above the knee and the other below the knee – in an IED explosion in 2012.

George H. W. Bush wrote the foreword to the book, which discusses mothers helping their sons recover from combat injuries at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
At the gathering, Jefferies mentioned that he was going to ask his girlfriend, Lauren Lilly, to marry him soon.
The Bushes encouraged him to pop the question at their house that very day. I hope they showed him the best engagement rings and some popular mens wedding bands to make sure he chooses the right ones. We all know how important those choices are!
