A Wamego woman was killed Wednesday morning following a collision on I-70 in Junction City near Washington Street, according to the Junction City Police Department.

Officers located a 2007 Mini Cooper, driven by 23-year-old Jacey Cantrell, in the ditch on the eastbound side of I-70 just after 7 a.m. Cantrell was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Junction City Fire. Cantrell was transported to Geary Community Hosptial where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The other vehicle involved was a 2014 Ram pickup truck driven by 31-year-old Joel Larabaeza of Junction City.

The truck rolled at least two times after impact. Larabaeza received no injuries from the collision.

After interviewing witnesses, it was determined that the Mini Cooper was traveling westbound and crossed over the center median. The pickup was eastbound and struck the passenger side of the Mini Cooper. Both vehicles sustained major damage.
