United States of Bacon: Its Pork Over Beef in America for First Time Since 1952
More pork than beef is now being produced in the US for the first time since 1952.
Pork production will climb this year to a record 23.908 billion pounds while beef will drop 1.7% to 23.901 billion.
Meanwhile, chicken will also jump to an all-time high at 39.206 billion pounds.
The main reason beef production is falling to a 22-year low is cattle ranchers across the country haven’t recovered from a drought in 2012.
