Uproxx.com has a list of musical acts that best represent each state.  The musicians didn’t necessarily have to be from the state, but that’s the case for a lot of them.  The list seems mostly subjective.  They considered stuff like album sales and Grammy wins, but they admit there were “less concrete factors” as well, and they didn’t say what those might be.
