ABC/Image Group LAThis week, “Break on Me” becomes the twentieth number one of Keith Urban‘s career — evidence that lots of people are feeling the same way the Australian superstar felt the first time he heard the song.

“‘Break On Me’ is just one of those songs that, the first time I heard it, it just, it hit me in all the right ways,” he recalls. “Because of having been in that place where I’ve needed somebody to ‘break on’– but of course also being someone who could be strong for somebody else.”

Keith says the second single from his forthcoming Ripcord album will always be very personal to him, because it was still fresh in his mind when his wife Nicole Kidman‘s father passed away.

“I’d gotten the song and not long after that was when Nic lost her dad, and I found myself living out that song. And then once we got it on the road and started playing live, I started getting a lot of stories back from people who loved the song for the exact same reasons,” Keith reveals.

He’ll put on his latest all-star All for the Hall benefit for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum April 12 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, before hitting the road on the ripCORD World Tour in June with Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris.
