According to The Dallas Morning News, Willie’s hair was part of a 2,000-item lot belonging to the late Waylon Jennings. Willie cut his braids off in 1983 to support Waylon’s sobriety and presented them to his friend at a party that year hosted by Johnny Cash. Waylon passed away in 2002.

The contract between Waylon, Willie, Johnny and Kris Kristofferson for their collaboration as The Highwaymen was also included in the auction.
