The 58th annual CMA awards are now in the books, and what a night it was!
Morgan Wallen took home the night’s biggest award for Entertainer of the Year. That makes sense, since these days everything Morgan touches turns to gold. Actor Jeff Bridges brought some laughs when he mistakenly called him “Morgan Wailing”. Wallen wasn’t present, but I’m sure he got a kick out of it.
Lainey Wilson got rave reviews for her co-hosting alongside Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning. She also takes home the award for Female Vocalist of the Year. She also had one of the funnier lines of the night. After Luke mentioned that Brooks & Dunn had been around since 1980, Lainey mentioned that she’d been born in 1982!
Your Male Vocalist of the Year is Chris Stapleton, who also snagged Song of the Year and Single of the Year for “White Horse”. For his third acceptance speech of the evening, Chris deadpanned “I’ve run out of things to say”.
One of the many highlights of the night was George Strait being presented the CMA Lifetime Achievement Award. The King of Country Music was joined onstage by Miranda Lambert, Jamey Johnson, Parker McCollum, and Chris Stapleton. George got a little emotional during his acceptance remarks.
So did you enjoy the show? We sure did!
