As you’re probably aware, Carrie Underwood slips into the judges’ seat left available by Katy Perry on the upcoming 23rd season of American Idol. And she got some advice from her old friend Simon Cowell. Cowell told E News ““I think it’s a good choice. Carrie, we go back a long way. I remember her audition like it was yesterday. She was so good, she’s such a sweet person.” In addition to Cowell’s kind remarks, he also gave Underwood some unsolicited advice that will surely make its way into her judging approach.
“You just gotta say how you feel…It’s not that difficult doing this job, I promise you. We all feel the same things and we don’t agree, thank God. Otherwise, life would be boring. And just enjoy it,” said the notoriously sour former judge. You may remember that Cowell predicted Underwood (the season three winner) would “not only win this show, you will sell more records.” And as usual…he was right!
As for Carrie, we suspect she won’t be as brutally honest as Simon was. But she’ll certainly take whatever advice he gave her to heart.
The new season of American Idol, with Carrie joining judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, premieres early next spring.
