Watch now: Luke Bryan explains why his mama oughta qualify for sainthood

ABC/Paula LoboGoing into Wednesday's CMA Awards, Luke Bryan's got a lot to celebrate, with an Entertainer of the Year nomination.  But things haven't been going so well for his mom, LeClaire: Her house in Mexico Beach, FL was destroyed in Hurricane Michael, the strongest storm on record in the Florida Panhandle.  The hurricane took the lives of 45 Americans and caused $14.58 billion in damages.

"My mother, I mean, to deal with losing children -- she's lost two children -- and now she's lost her home.  It's been very emotional for her," he tells ABC Radio. "So now, you hope that we can return Mexico Beach just the way it was."

But Luke says his mother will pull through -- she's already busy helping others.

"She's tough," he says. "She's down there cooking meals for people, and every time I call her it sounds like she's the foreman of a job site!"

Watch now: Dan + Shay’s hearts are overflowing, and so is their liquor cabinet

ABC/Image Group LADan + Shay are nominated for four CMA Awards on Wednesday's ABC telecast, and Dan Smyers says it's all down to one specific song: "Tequila," which was a massive hit for the duo.

"It's changed our lives," Dan Smyers tells ABC Radio. "This is the moment where we're actually feeling it all sink in. 'Cause it's been such a busy year, we've been on the road non-stop. Being able to come back here [to Nashville] and have people say, 'You guys are nominated for all these awards!' -- it's like, 'Maybe this is real life!'"

"It's felt like a dream up 'til now. It's felt surreal but we're trying to soak it in," he adds. "It goes by fast, so we're trying to appreciate the moment."

In addition to being nominated for Single, Song and Music Video of the Year for "Tequila," Dan + Shay are also up for Vocal Duo of the Year.  Shay Mooney says that's the category he'd most like to win.

"I feel like that's a really [competitive] category, so that would definitely mean a lot," he tells ABC Radio. "We love all the guys -- and ladies -- in that category."

Win or lose, though, Dan + Shay will definitely have enough booze on hand to either celebrate or drown their sorrows.  As Dan explains, fans have been giving them bottles of tequila all year long.

"Dude, my liquor cabinet -- it overflowed!" he laughs. "I had to go to the upstairs closet.  It's filled with tequila -- it's incredible! It's a great problem. Whenever friends come over, we go through it but the supply is ample, if you will, right now. It's good!"

Watch now: Maren Morris talks new album and “soulful” CMA Awards performance

ABC/Image Group LAAt Wednesday's CMA Awards, Maren Morris is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year for "Dear Hate."  She'll be performing on the ABC telecast with Chris Stapleton and soul/gospel music legend Mavis Staples.  She says she can't reveal too much about the performance, but says it'll have a lot of soul.

"I know that we're doing some really soulful stuff," she tells ABC Radio.  "I've never met Mavis but I'm such a fan and Chris and I, I've opened for him in the past and both his and my careers both sort of launched at the CMA Awards...but it's cool to be coming together on the CMA stage."

Meanwhile, Maren is officially finished with her second album. "Believe me, I promise, in the new year, very early, it's gonna be out!" she tells ABC Radio.

One song that won't be on that album, though, is "Dear Hate," her CMA-nominated duet with Vince Gill, which she released to raise money for the victims of the Las Vegas massacre. Maren says the song "lives in its own universe."

As she explains, "It's been an unexpected gift releasing 'Dear Hate,' and having the response from fans and survivors and people going through therapy right now after stuff like that, and still wanting to come see live music."

Tune into the CMA Awards Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC to watch Maren get soulful with Chris and Mavis -- and to see if "Dear Hate" can bring home the trophy.

Watch now: Rascal Flatts joke about “aging out” of the CMA Awards, jokingly diss Little Big Town

ABC/Image Group LARascal Flatts are not attending the CMA Awards this year, since they're not nominated and they're not performing. But Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney have a unique explanation for why that is.

"We've actually aged out," Jay tells ABC Radio, with mock regret. "They actually sent us a letter saying 'You've aged out, you're not eligible anymore.'"

"Which is hurtful," Joe Don notes.

"It is hurtful," Jay agrees.

But despite not attending the show this year, Rascal Flatts are still CMA voters.  They joke that they're taking this opportunity to make sure their pretend rivals Little Big Town -- who, like them, have won the Vocal Group of the Year six times -- don't pull ahead.

"We've started voting for everybody BUT Little Big Town, so they won't break our record," cracks Jay.

He continues, joking, "It's heartbreaking what's happened to them in the last couple of years with the drug abuse, and Kimberly in and out of rehab...I don't wanna get into all that, that's a private matter."

"Yeah, she's cooking up a little more than just food now," Joe Don cracks.

"We'll pray for them but we won't vote for them!" Jay finishes.

You'll just have to tune in Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC to see if Little Big Town can break Rascal Flatts' record despite the guys' best efforts.

Watch now: Keith Urban says his multiple CMA nominations are “all cream”

ABC/Image Group LAKeith Urban is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year at this Wednesday's CMA Awards.  But he says all those nods, especially Entertainer, are just a bonus because he's been having such a great time this year.

"I've had the best fun on this Graffiti U World Tour, more than any other tour we've ever done. So to get that nomination, with the tour and everything else...it's all cream!" he tells ABC Radio.

Even if he does't win any trophies this year, Keith has already won many CMA Awards in the past, and of course, his wife Nicole Kidman has won her fair share of awards as well, including an Oscar.  So where does the couple keep all their hardware?

"We have a little office, there's a couple in there," he says. "But I sent a lot to my mom. She puts 'em in her house."

"It's right that she should have them!" he adds. "I mean, for all the years she drove me around to gigs and all kinds of singing competitions, y'know --  the work that her and dad put into the early part of my career."

So, does Keith have any predictions for a category he's not nominated in?  He's worked with nearly all of this year's Female Vocalist nominees, including Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris.  Who does he think has the best chance of taking home the trophy?

"Who knows? I mean, Carrie made a fantastic record...but Maren's just made a record that I've heard little bits and pieces of..incredible!" gushes Keith.

"Kelsea's been out on the road with us all this year singing her butt off...[Miranda's group] Pistol Annies just put out a great record -- everybody's on fire right now!"

Watch now: Florida Georgia Line says “Meant to Be” CMA Awards performance will be “super-powerful”

ABC/Kelsey McNeal"Meant to Be," Florida Georgia Line's record-breaking collaboration with Bebe Rexha, is nominated for Single and Musical Event of the Year at Wednesday's CMA Awards.  While the duo and Bebe have teamed up to perform "Meant to Be" at a number of other awards shows in the past year, FGL's Brian Kelley says the one they're doing Wednesday night will be the best yet.

"We've got a different type of performance scheduled. We've got a little surprise, a little different version of it, but it's gonna be super-powerful," Brian tells ABC Radio.

"We're just excited about getting out there, performing together," he adds. "We've done it a couple of times, but I think this'll be the best, this'll be the most powerful and we're just excited about seeing the faces of our friends and family and fans....seeing their reactions and [hearing] their thoughts."

Between the two categories in which the song's nominated, Tyler Hubbard knows which one he'd rather win: Single of the Year.

"I think that song just deserves some recognition," he tells ABC Radio. "I think it'd be cool to get up there and share a stage with Bebe -- just to share that moment, I think it'd be really special."

He adds, "That song's changed our life, all three of our lives, and it's just unexpected and very, very cool to see what that song's done this year and how it's connected with our fans and continued to inspire us."

Tune in to see which trophies, if any, "Meant to Be" wins when the 52nd Annual CMA Awards air live from Nashville on ABC Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.

Watch Now: Luke Combs reveals which star his mom can’t wait to meet at the CMA Awards

ABC/Randy HolmesLuke Combs is nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year at Wednesday's CMA Awards.  Luke is considered to be the frontrunner for New Artist, and says the reason he wants to win isn't so much for himself, but for his family.

"I think it'd be really cool for my parents," Luke tells ABC Radio. "It's not gonna help me write better songs or put on a better show, winning it.  I think we do that now. And so I want my parents to have that moment: get me up there and thank them for everything they've done for me.  That would mean more to me than having it sitting up there on the mantle, you know what I mean?"

In addition to possibly enjoying the thrilling moment of her son winning his first CMA Award, Luke says his mom loves coming to Nashville for the festivities because she's a total country music fangirl -- especially when it comes to one particular artist.

"My mom loves Chris Young.  Like, she loves Chris Young," Luke tells ABC Radio. "When I go back to my childhood room, it is full of memorabilia of myself and then pictures of Chris Young.  I wake up to him -- it's like, Chris Young: He's right there.  He's, like, watching while I sleep, you know?"

Luke laughs, "My mom loves him.  He's a great singer. I'll corner him in the [CMA] afterparty and be like, 'You're gonna talk to my mom right now!'"

Tune into the CMA Awards Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC to see if Luke will get that big moment to thank his parents.
