Prohibition ended in the United States!

The Cullen-Harrison Act repealed the Volstead Act. The Cullen-Harrison Act legalized the sale of beer with an alcohol content of 3.2% beer and wine of similarly low alcohol content, thought to be too low to be intoxicating.

It became effective on April 7, 1933.

1963

At the age of 23, Jack Nicklaus became the youngest golfer to win the Green Jacket at the Masters Tournament.

He would eventually win six Masters jackets! 

1970

John Wayne won his first and only Oscar for his role in True Grit.

He had been in over 200 films, but this was only his second Oscar nomination. He was nominated for Best Actor in Sands of Iwo-Jima in 1949
