The Battle of Puebla took place.

General Ignacio Zaragoza’s troops were outnumbered three to one as they battled the invading French army. They may have been outnumbered but they had the will to win, and that’s what they did. The won!

It is now celebrated as Cinco de Mayo Day.

1865

The Thirteenth Amendment was ratified, abolishing slavery in the U.S.

Music Hall was dedicated in New York City!

It was later renamed Carnegie Hall

1956

Jim Bailey became the first runner to break the four-minute mile in the U.S. 

He was clocked at 3:58.5

Alan Shepard became the first American in space

The final episode of Boy Meets World aired on ABC!

This was my show when I was growing up…
