I found a new excuse to avoid the gym.

According to researchers out of the Medical College of Wisconsin, losing those extra pounds can make you look older!

The findings were after middle-aged people underwent computed tomography head scans twice a decade apart. The research found that facial fat reduced by 12 percent over those 10 years, which confirms what is called “volume loss.”

“In particular, we think deep facial fat loss removes support from the overlying fat,” says lead author Dr. Aaron Morgan, of the Medical College of Wisconsin, in a statement. “That causes deepening of the nasolabial fold, which runs from the nose to the mouth. Meanwhile, fat loss closer to the surface makes the cheeks appear deflated.”

Boiling it down, losing weight in the face makes your jawline less defined and your eyes may look hollow and sunken.

On the plus side, this study could lead to improvements in facelifts, so we’ve got that going for us, which is nice.
