The “Queen of Country Music” was born in McAlester, Oklahoma on this day back in 1955.
The third of four children, Reba was raised on a cattle ranch and grew up helping with chores after school. Her mother had been an aspiring singer, and had instilled a love of music in her children. The kids actually performed locally, but it wasn’t until Reba sang the national anthem at a rodeo that her budding career a kick-start.
She has since sold more than 75 million albums and charted more than 100 songs, with 25 of them hitting the top spot. She’s hosted award shows, starred on Broadway and in Hollywood, and has become a restauranteur (seriously, check out Reba’s Place in Atoka sometime).
For all her accomplishments…Happy 70th birthday Reba!
