Our Hometown Hero this week is Joseph Dillon!

He was nominated by Zach Koenig. His nomination letter is below!

Mr. Dillon is a long standing member of the U.S. Army with service in both the Active Duty and KS National Guard branches. He has made a large impact on many Soldiers due to his wealth of knowledge and leadership abilities. He has pushed many Soldiers to further their education and careers that most do not. Thanks to Mr. Dillon, I have turned my military career around and am now headed to Warrant Officer Candidate School!!

He has made an even larger impact in the community of Manhattan, KS. For several years, he was the Scout Master for the local Boy Scout troop in Manhattan. He would often tell us about the successes that he would see in the young men that he was mentoring during that time and how it changed some of their lives for the better.

Mr. Dillon is also a school board member of the Flint Hills Christian school in Manhattan, KS. He spends an endless amount of hours working behind the scenes for not only the school, but for the youth that attend there. He helps guide the school in a way that will have a positive impact on not only the students, but their families and community as well.
I can’t think of a more deserving person for this award as Mr. Dillon has devoted a lifetime of service to country and community and to this day, continues to do both.

For being this week’s Hometown Hero, Joseph receives 4 tickets to an upcoming K-State football game, as well as a $50 oil change from Kia of Manhattan and a $50 gift card to RC McGraw’s.

His name is also entered in our grand prize drawing, a complete Furnace/AC replacement from Robert’s Heating and Cooling! We’ll draw that winner on Nov. 10!

Nominate a veteran you know who deserves recognition for being an outstanding soldier and member of the community here!
