Our final Hometown Hero is: Michael Smith!

Michael was nominated by his Lisa McCurdy.

Michael recently retired after a long 25-years of service (in both the Army and the Marines). He earned several awards during his time fighting for our country and freedom. He used to jump out of (airplanes with the 82nd Airborne) and had to use deadly force while deployed. He moved his family of 4 multiple times, and they have finally put down roots here in Kansas by purchasing the house they had been renting for the last 4 years.

Outside of being a Veteran, Michael volunteers his time to the community, specifically for a non-profit organization that helps abused children. He has been the President of the Native Stone Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.) for 4 years now and before that he held several different positions within the organization. He is also the Vice President at the state level of B.A.C.A, which requires a lot of personal time and commitment.

He is a good man, husband, father and friend.

Michael receives tickets to K-State football, plus a free oil change from Kia of Manhattan, a $50 gift card to RC McGraws, and a Hometown Heroes T-Shirt! Michael is also qualified to win the grand prize from Robert’s Heating and Cooling: a full Furnace and AC replacement!

We will announce the winner of the Furnace/AC replacement on Veteran’s Day!
