This is certainly the end of an era for fans of the American Country Countdown.

Longtime host Kix Brooks has announced that his last show will air the weekend of December 28th. Brooks has hosted the show since January 2006, and you’ve been able to listen to him reveal the week’s 30 biggest country hits of the week here on B1047 every Sunday morning at 8am.

“I never dreamed I would be asked to host a legendary international radio show like ‘American Country Countdown’, said Brooks. “The fact that I have been supported by hundreds of affiliates and an amazing team of radio professionals for 18 years has made this one of the greatest experiences of my professional life.”

Dallas based radio personality Ryan Fox will step into the hosting role with the first countdown of the new year. He’s looking forward to bringing fresh energy to a show, but also recognizes the incredible near-19 year tenure of his predecessor. Fox will be the 4th host of the show since it debuted in 1973, following initial host Don Bowman, the incomparable Bob Kingsley, and then Kix Brooks.

As for what Kix is up to next? “It’s time to turn my primary focus back to writing, recording, and touring with Brooks & Dunn.”

Yep, that sounds like B&D are about to go all-in with their long awaited reunion.
