Not sure what sweets to get for your sweetheart Friday? Candystore.com ran a 12-year survey to determine what the most popular Valentine’s Day candy was by state, which, when you think about it, is really only for about a month total over that period.

The most popular was heart-shaped candy boxes, which boasted 18 states plus Washington, D.C. Those conversation hearts had 14 states, which lets me know which ones I don’t ever want to move to (Montana, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, BOTH Virginias, South Carolina, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Vermont, Hawaii and North Dakota, for the record).

Kansas went with M&Ms along with seven other states. I would be disappointed, but at least it wasn’t Alabama. I mean, seriously, candy necklaces? For shame, Alabama. For shame.
