After a year away (coughthankscovidcough), Purple Power Play returns to get the Wildcat nation hyped up for the home opener Saturday against Southern Illinois.

The pep rally will look different in 2021, however. For starters, it is one night only on Friday. The other change is that it will be at Blue Earth Plaza, rather than at City Park, as it has been for the last several years.

The event starts at 5 p.m. and will feature food trucks, an inflatable carnival, a beer garden sponsored by Eatingmhk.com (which is Kite’s Bar & Grill, Mr. K’s Cafe & Bar, Rockin’ K’s, and the Kite’s Drafthouse), entertainment on the main stage, and, of course, the pep rally.

The schedule of events for Friday includes:

  • 5-5:30 p.m.  Washington Dance Studio
  • 5:45-6:45 p.m.  Derek Calvin
  • 7-7:30 p.m.  Bates Dance Studio
  • 7:45-8 p.m.  The Pride of Wildcat Land Marching Band arrives
  • 8:05-8:20 p.m.  Pride of Wildcat Land Marching Band Pep Rally
  • 8:20-9:15 p.m.  K-State Athletics Pep Rally (Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball, Football)
