2013

Just three days into the start of Mississippi’s alligator hunting season, the state record for heaviest alligator was broken — twice!

Beth Trammell held the weight record for about an hour after taking in a 723.5-pound gator, beating the state record for heaviest male by 26 pounds.

The record set by Trammell and her team was broken about an hour later, when Dustin Bockman of Vicksburg took in a 727-pound alligator

The 727-pound monster was 13′ 4.5″ long, and he was harvested by Bockman, who shot it with a crossbow on the Mississippi River

Even though it was officially the heaviest, it was still 2″ shy of the record longest alligator

*NOTE*

This record has already been shattered itself!

A 13-foot, 7 3/4-inch, 822-pound male alligator  (Both record heaviest & longest) was harvested this past Satuday (8.30.15)

The heaviest female alligator record was also broken this past weekend as well!
