Right now, more and more Americans are returning to the office after nearly a year-and-a-half of working from the couch. Or bedroom. Mostly the bathroom, let’s be honest.

HOWEVER, a sizable amount of us would take a pay cut to keep working from home. A recent survey says that 65 percent of us would take a 5 percent hit to the paycheck to stay home. And 15 percent would give up a quarter of their pay.

Okay, let’s not go crazy, there.

Additionally:

  • 39 percent would give up health insurance benefits, half would give up vision, and 44 percent would give up dental. Which tells me the people answering that have never needed any of those things.
  • 36 percent would give up their 401k benefits.
  • 46 percent would give up half of their vacation and sick days. 15 percent would give them all up. Again, let’s not go crazy here.
  • 53 percent would work an extra 10 hours a week. Most likely, they already are.
  • 55 percent would give up social media for a year. What that has to do with work, I do not know.
  • 52 percent would give up Netflix, with the same amount willing to forgo Amazon.
  • And 34 percent would give up the right to vote in all future elections. Hold on, let me do the math…uh huh…carry the…factor for…THESE PEOPLE DIDN’T VOTE ANYWAY. THAT’S NOT SACRIFICING A THING.

Ahem.

It does look like remote work might have to be a thing going forward. Some companies are finding that employees are resigning rather than returning to the office.

“I sent a memo to all my employees last month that we will be doing complete work at the office, starting in July,” Tony Grenier, CEO of Grenier Media, said back in June to meetbreeze.com. “However, I already received some resignation letters from several employees. Now, our company is facing a lack of employees due to that.”
