Image Group LA/ABCAs Carrie Underwood launched her Storyteller tour this weekend with a sold-out show in Jacksonville, Florida, she accomplished several firsts. It’s her first time ever to perform in the round, and it’s also the first time she’s mounted a major series of concerts with a baby in tow.

“He’ll come with me most of the time,” she says of her son Isaiah, who’ll turn one on the 27th of this month. “I mean I’ll try to. When I went to the U.K., it was better for him that I did not take him with us, because it was going to be such a short trip and I was like, ‘Jetlagged me! Jetlagged baby! I just don’t really know what to do with that.’ But on tour, he’ll definitely be with me.”

The “Heartbeat” hitmaker admits taking her little one on the road is definitely a learning process.

“You know, we’ll figure it out,” she says confidently. “There’s no book that I can read that’s gonna give me all the answers. I can ask other moms that have been through it before, but that’s about all I can do, is talk to them and just figure it out as we go along. We’re gonna make mistakes and we’re gonna figure things out, but in the end, it’ll be OK. And I have help, you know, so that’s important,” she adds.

The Grammy nominee has quite a few more tour stops before it’s time to celebrate Isaiah’s birthday. Tonight, she plays Duluth, Georgia, with dates in Greensboro, North Carolina and Louisville, Kentucky later this week.

On February 15, the Best Country Solo Performance Grammy nominee for “Little Toy Guns” will perform on the 58th annual show with Sam Hunt. You can watch it live at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
