Sony Music NashvilleCarrie Underwood is in New York City for Tuesday night’s All for the Hall songwriters show at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square.
She says with a laugh, “I don’t know if you’ve heard of some of the other people on the bill. But it’s gonna be cool.”
Carrie certainly has reason to get excited about this concert, benefiting the Country Music Hall of Fame. She’ll be sharing stories and songs on stage with legendary singer/songwriter Paul Simon as well as Brad Paisley, Emmylou Harris and Vince Gill.
Carrie says of performing the informal, guitar-pull style show, “There’s no fancy-pants lights and bells and whistles and stuff like that going on. You just kind of get to sit and sing, and there’s something special about that.”
Of course, Carrie strongly believes in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s work to preserve the history of the country format.
“I mean, country music is so based on tradition. So many of us look back,” Carrie explains. “It’s not just about what’s hot right now. It’s built on legacies, and really, really, really amazing artists and musicians and songwriters, and we need to preserve that. It’s cool to go to the museum and see everything and feel the history.”
