Capitol NashvilleCharles Kelley is following up the Grammy-nominated title track from his album The Driver with a new single co-written by Chris Stapleton.  The Lady Antebellum hitmaker says “Lonely Girl” is a song he’s loved for a long time.

“I’ve been wanting to cut this song since I heard it about three years ago,” Charles recalls. “At the time, it wasn’t the right fit for Lady A, so when we started digging into my solo project, I knew it would be a big part of the record. It’s not easy to follow Stapleton’s demo, I mean, he’s the best singer in our genre, but I put my own little spin on it and it’s turned out to be a favorite live.”

You can hear Charles debut his new single live from Las Vegas on Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards, starting at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. He kicks off his solo tour April 9 in Washington, D.C. with his brother Josh, before heading out with Lady A this summer.
