RCA NashvilleChris Young opted not to play his brand-new single, “I’m Comin’ Over,” in concert until the track was available for download at iTunes. He knew as soon as he sang the song in public it would be all over YouTube, and Chris didn’t want fans to hear the live version of “I’m Comin’ Over” first.

He tells ABC Radio, “I really wanted people to hear it as we put it down as we did it in the studio. You spend all this time doing all that work [in the studio]. I wanted that to be their first listen.”

Chris and his team teased the new single nonstop on his social media accounts before it went live at iTunes, and that promotion really paid off. “I’m Comin’ Over” sold more than 70,000 downloads in its first week on iTunes, which beats his previous record-best debut week at iTunes by 40,000 downloads.

“[‘I’m Comin’ Over’]  was sitting at #1 country on iTunes for a lot of the week and #3 overall, which was something I’ve never done before,” Chris says with a smile. “I’ve never had a single be at #1 on iTunes. So, it was pretty awesome. “

Chris has added “I’m Comin’ Over” to his set lists now that it’s a hit. It’s the lead single from his as-yet-untitled studio album, due out later this year.
