ABC RadioEver since Sam Hunt’s smash, “Body Like a Back Road,” hit #1 on the country chart last May, fans have been anxiously awaiting a follow-up single.

Tuesday at the news conference announcing he’ll join Luke Bryan’s stadium dates this summer, the Montevallo hitmaker revealed he’s about to get serious about finishing his sophomore album.

“I’ve finally got my life a lot more organized than it has been in years,” Sam explained. “Getting married last year helped a lot in that department, and that’s definitely translated with music.”

“I’ve been writing for a couple years,” he continued, “had planned on having music out before now, but just with all the other things going on, I haven’t quite organized it into a compact, album version. I do have some songs that, yeah, I’m going in February 5 through March and April and I’m hitting it hard before we get out on the road.”

If things stay on track, you can expect new music from Sam in the first half of 2018.

“I plan on having new music out before, you know, a month or two before we strike out and hit the road, when I may not have as much time to write,” he announced.

Sam’s first date on the What Makes You Country XL Stadium Sized Tour will be May 31 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
