Warner Music NashvilleDan+Shay may’ve given their new album the title Obsessed based on the devotion of their fans, but the duo admits they have an obsession or two themselves.

“I would say we are obsessed with coffee, obsessed with rescuing dogs and animals — that’s very close to our hearts,” Dan Smyers confesses. “We’re obsessed with roller-coasters, we love riding roller-coasters — C’mon, why not? — and obsessed with sports, love watching sports. You know it’s a good time. Pittsburgh Penguins, we’re both big fans and they just advanced in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, so we celebrated that last night for sure!”

With a debut that produced the number-one single, “Nothin’ Like You,” Shay Mooney says he and Dan were compelled to make sure their sophomore album upped the ante.

“We have a responsibility to our fans at this point. They were obsessed with the first album and we have a responsibility to write a better album. We have to beat every song. We’ve always said that: ‘May the best song win’… I think we did what our fans — the Dan+Shay that they fell in love with, it’s still that…but we took some liberties, took some chances and did some new things and the reaction so far has just been awesome.”

With the lead single “From the Ground Up” just about to break into the top 20, it looks like Dan+Shay are on their way to accomplishing their goal. You can find out more about Obsessed, which is new in stores and online today, in an exclusive interview and performance that airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on AUDIENCE Network.
