Ruth was dying of throat cancer.

Nolan Ryan broke a major league baseball record when he struck out his 3,509th batter of his career. 

The Ryan Express broke Walter Johnson’s 55 year-old strikeout record in a 4-2 win over Montreal.

In New York City, construction began on the Freedom Tower on the site of former World Trade Center. 

Opening November, 3 2014, One World Trade Center stands 1,776 tall! 

 It cost $3.9 Billion to construct.
