Capitol NashvilleDierks Bentley, Keith Urban and Little Big Town Stand Up to Cancer Friday night, representing the country community at the fundraiser set to air simultaneously on all three major networks and many cable channels as well.
They’ll perform their take on the David Bowie classic, “Heroes,” which they taped last week at the ACM Honors at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
“Great song, you know,” Dierks says. “I didn’t actually choose that song, but when I heard that that was what it was gonna be, it was a no-brainer. You know that line, ‘We can all be heroes, just for a day.’…It’s all about raising as much money as we can in a one-day period. So everyone can be a hero, just for a day…Donate as much or little as you can. You know, they have some lofty goals. It’s possible they could raise over $100 million in a day!”
The “Different for Girls” hitmaker is hopeful the benefit can help fund a huge leap forward for the cause.
“I don’t know a whole lot about cancer research,” Dierks admits, “but from everything I hear, they’re really close to making some huge breakthroughs. And everyone’s been touched by cancer in some way, whether family members or friends.”
