CMAKeith Urban‘s latest hit, “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16,” is racing up the country chart, but you shouldn’t expect him to announce details of his new album any time soon. In fact, Keith is still in the studio working on the new project.

He started recording the follow-up to his hit album, Fuse, back in January. Since that last project was such a challenge to create, Keith figured he had gotten to a new creative place that would lead directly into the sound and feel of the new album.

Looking back on the recording sessions earlier this year, Keith says, “I didn’t feel the way about it as I hoped I would. It was kind of in that moment that I thought, ‘All right, this is not gonna be easy.'”

He adds, “So, it’s a process and it is what it is, but it’s always got to be about capturing the truth.”

Since Keith did all that hard work at the beginning of the year, he doesn’t expect the album-making process will take much longer.

“I think we’re a long ways into it now because of the initial learning curve of this record,” Keith explains. “You know, sometimes you go full circle. You just have to sort of journey and discover, and if it’s only to come back where you started and know the place for the first time, then it was a journey worth taking.”
