Republic NashvilleThe Band Perry has looked up to Blake Shelton as a big brother in country music for years now, so they were happy to sign on as mentors for Team Blake on The Voice this season. The Band Perry’s lead singer Kimberly Perry recalls Blake calling her “sis” when they first met at a group interview a couple summers back.

She says, “I appreciate the big brother sensibility because there’s something really comforting about that kind of guidance.”

Kimberly is also a fan of the positive atmosphere Blake and the other coaches create for the contestants on The Voice.

In a joint interview posted at NBC.com, Kimberly tells Blake, ” You guys are really giving beneficial tips to singers every week, and you’re building them up as opposed to tearing them down.  I think that’s really why they’re able to bring their best every week. They feel empowered to do so, and that’s a cool thing.”

The Band Perry returns for another round of mentoring Tuesday night at 8 ET on NBC’s The Voice.
