ABC/Eric GebhartThe Band Perry is leaving its longtime label home. Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry made the announcement Tuesday via social media.
“We and Big Machine Label Group have made a mutual decision to bring our working relationship to a close,” the siblings shared on Facebook. “We are grateful for 6 years of the big moments and great strides we made with our BMLG family and will carry that foundation forward with us as we begin the next leg of our journey.”
A short time later, the label’s president and CEO responded. “KP, Reid & Neil – Thanks for a great run!” Scott Borchetta tweeted. “Wishing you nothing but success in the future. XO @BigMachine.”
In August, BMLG released “Live Forever,” the first single from the trio’s forthcoming album, originally set for release in the fall. After the lead track failed to become a hit, the project that was to be titled Heart + Beat never emerged.
Throughout the day Tuesday, The Band Perry responded to fans’ concerns on Facebook. When asked if they were breaking up, they answered, “We’re not going anywhere!” When one fan wanted to know if this means there won’t be a new record, the threesome shot back, “Oh there def will be!” adding a wink emoticon and the hashtag #staytuned.
A couple hours later, the threesome was thanking their fans for the love.
“To our fans – We love you all SO MUCH and are SO TOUCHED by the outpouring of support after our big news,” they said in another Facebook post, along with a video of them blowing kisses, flashing peace signs and making silly faces. “We’re sitting on the bus getting ready for Rodeo Houston and reading all of your sweet comments and smiling. You are the best people on planet earth.”
