Trae Patton/CBSLove it or hate it, one thing’s for sure — the pink suit Sam Hunt wore to the Grammys still has everyone talking. While Details loved it, GQ wasn’t quite as fond of it — and now Sam’s stylist is opening up to Billboard about the daring fashion choice.

It turns out the pink cotton Dolce & Gabbana coat and slacks were one of only about three suits Sam tried on before deciding on the edgy choice. Stylist Lee Moore recalls it also came in another color — yellow, if he remembers correctly. The two paired the ensemble with a white Tom Ford shirt — sans tie — because it seems Sam is not terribly fond of neckwear.

“Sam is big and athletic. He’s not a sample size so I do have to wait for the real clothes to arrive in the stores,” Moore says. “So yeah, it was just a matter of almost at this very last minute Dolce & Gabbana receiving this shipment and there was something amazing that had Sam’s name on it.”

The fashion consultant adds he really didn’t have many reservations about suggesting the pink suit to the Montevallo hitmaker, either.

“I wasn’t 100 percent sure he would like it but I was 99.5 percent sure he would. Sam’s not into rules. He does not follow fashion rules. He goes with his gut. He’s very curious and open to trying things and if he puts it on and he feels good in it, he’s going to wear it.”

If you can imagine CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan in the same suit as well — it’s really not that much of a stretch. Lee Moore is his stylist too.
