Women’s Equality Day 

The 19th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States was certified by Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby

The amendment prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, giving women in the United States the right to vote.

In 1973, Congresswoman Bella Abzug presented a bill to Congress designating this day as Women’s Equality Day

The President issued a proclamation and in 1974 it became Public Law #93-382.
